Wellborn Cabinet, Inc Breaks Ground on New Oxford Expansion

On Friday, June 16th, Wellborn Cabinet, Inc proudly broke ground on a new expansion in Oxford, Alabama. This $17 million expansion is 250,000 square feet and is projected to bring in 415 new jobs within five years of its operational start up. This new location is on 60 acres in the Oxford West Industrial Park in Talladega County.

With construction beginning in June of this year, the new factory is set to begin start up operations in January of 2025. This new expansion will be creating a new entry level cabinetry line, First Haven. This product line features laminated, wrapped doors and frames and is perfect for both volume new construction and entry level remodeling. Primarily for kitchens, baths, and laundry rooms, this line is an excellent addition to Wellborn Cabinet’s extensive lineup.

Wellborn Cabinet is excited to bring this expansion to Oxford and to continue the growth of the company. Wellborn Cabinet will continue to have its headquarters at their Ashland, Alabama plant, but the addition of this new facility in Oxford will continue to open doors for them. Paul Wellborn, CEO, said of the expansion, “As we were looking at areas for expansion opportunities, we wanted to continue our growth within the state of Alabama. Oxford was very accommodating and helpful throughout the process. The new location will be close to Interstate 20 and a broader workforce, which are both critical to our success.”

Wellborn Cabinet would like to thank everyone who made this expansion and groundbreaking possible: the City of Oxford, Talladega County, the Calhoun County EDC, and the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. Wellborn Cabinet would also like to thank RaLin for their design and construction throughout this exciting expansion.

Maxis Advisors played a critical role in helping us navigate the complexities of selecting a location and securing incentives for our first production facility. From the beginning, they understood our priorities and provided guidance to ensure our final location supported our construction timeline, Department of Energy grant goals, and long-term operational needs. Most importantly, their team’s strong relationships with states and communities matches our organization’s culture and values, and we are grateful to have them as a partner.
